And then again and again and again...Shakespeare's tragic love story of Romeo and Juliet inspired Leonard Bernstein and lyricist Stephen Sondheim for the story of the lovers, Tony and Maria, and two rival gangs in 50's New York.The iconic musical West Side Story with Bernstein's soundtrack is a hit every time. His mix of symphonic sounds and the jazzy and Latin American rhythms he heard in clubs and on the streets of his hometown of New York is a brilliant musical fusion.The young Reumert Talent Award-winning musical performer, Søren Torpegaard Lund, is Tony, and the young, Norwegian musical talent, Astrid Giske, can be seen in the role of Maria.The Royal Theater presents more than 30 singing and dancing actors on stage accompanied by the Royal Chapel. The play's in-house director Thomas Bendixen stages a fast-paced, magnificent production, where the dance is largely one with a narrative and dramatic element.West Side Story is sung in Danish.

From 9 to 20 December you can visit Christmas stalls lined up in Den Grå Hal in Christiania, and there will be all kinds of Christmas decorations and decorative gizmos to find and buy to take home for the Christmas tree or as gifts for family and friends.The Christmas market, which has been a recurring event since the 70s, is, in addition to being the most beautiful and exotic market north of the Alps, also a meeting place for a lot of old friends.Every year on the first Saturday in December, Den Grå Hal houses one of the oldest and nicest Christmas markets in Copenhagen. And even the largest indoor one of its kind in the Nordics.The Christians have a tradition of producing lots of things that are sold on the market. It's usually everything from handicrafts to edible goodies, and you can expect that this year too. I wonder if they also serve mulled wine and sweet Christmas treats?There are a multitude of stalls and people who create these very beautiful unique settings. The Christmas market lasts for two weeks and is open every day between 12:00 and 20:00, except for the last day when it closes at 18:00.There is free entry to Christiania's Christmas market.

True to tradition, we gather for a floating procession of Lucia in a kayak through Copenhagen Harbor on 13 December. Get on the water together with hundreds of kayakers from near and far. Over the years, the event has become a run-in, with several thousand spectators along the water. The many new bridges around the inner harbor make it possible for spectators, family and friends to follow along the route. So come out and row along, walk along, sing along - and just help light up the harbor with kayaks, fun, light and warm voices in the otherwise dark time...
