CPH Events | December 2020

2020-12-07

When the world's oldest amusement park Bakken opens for Christmas, it is of course in the company of Santa Claus himself. Look forward to walking around the streets and alleys of Bakken. The park has been nicely decorated with Christmas lights, Christmas decorations and a Christmas tree, which evokes the Christmas atmosphere for young and old. Bakken is looking forward to inviting young and old to a magical Christmas, where fantastic experiences will surprise and create unforgettable memories.

Come and experience Kids' City when the exhibition turns into a magical winter city. Throughout December, you can decorate DAC's large Christmas tree, rock along to good Christmas music and slide in Copenhagen's longest slide.

- DAC follows the authorities' restrictions. Therefore, we are closed from Wednesday, December 9, through January 3, 2021.

All DAC events in the period December 9 to January 3, 2021 have been canceled due to the temporary lockdown.

The world's first design hotel is celebrating 60 years in 2020. The SAS Royal Hotel - now the Radisson Collection Royal Hotel - is one of Arne Jacobsen's most iconic buildings. The hotel became Denmark's first skyscraper and is a shining example of how Jacobsen mastered all parts of the architectural process; from the largest lines to the smallest details. The hotel, which at the opening was considered the most modern hotel in the Nordic region, but not everyone was equally impressed by Jacobsen's masterpieces. How did it come about that SAS Royal Hotel was so reviled in its time, at the same time as it was a declaration of love for Copenhagen? You will find the exhibition in DAC Passage. - DAC follows the authorities' restrictions. Therefore, we are closed from Wednesday, December 9, through January 3, 2021.

Cancelled! - The DR Vocal Ensemble's Christmas concert has become a strong tradition, which every year fills the Garrison Church with the sound of exquisite choral music and famous Christmas hymns. This year, the choir takes the audience on a musical journey around the world to as many as 10 different countries - from France and Italy to Australia and of course Denmark. There is nothing that can get us in the Christmas mood as quickly and faithfully as the sound of the Christmas music we know and grew up with. But how is Christmas celebrated in Holland, Australia, or Estonia? Follow up close to the core of Christmas - through time and space - with atmospheric choir music by, among others, J.S. Bach, Dutch Renaissance masters and romantic English composers - spiced with organ sounds and famous Danish hymns, in which the audience is of course welcome to sing along. Especially for this concert, the DR Vocal Ensemble has commissioned a new work, the piece "NAT" by the Icelandic composer Bára Gísladottir.
